IDCC WELCOMES DEVELOPMENT BUDGET AND INDO-PACIFIC COMMITMENT

The International Development Contractors Community (IDCC) welcomes Australia’s stable and steady commitment to Official Development Assistance in the 2026–27 Federal Budget, including the Government’s continued commitment to the Indo-Pacific.

With more than 75 cents in every development dollar supporting the Indo-Pacific, this is an important ongoing investment in the security and resilience of our region.

“Australia’s development program is not separate from Australia’s interests — it is a practical way to support stability and opportunity across the region,” said Nathan Hansford, Chief Executive Officer of IDCC.

“The companies and consultants IDCC represents are part of the wider network of organisations involved in Australia’s development program. Their role is to support practical delivery — through realistic planning, clear accountability and disciplined implementation.”

“Funding is essential, but outcomes depend on how programs are planned, designed and managed. In the Indo-Pacific, effective delivery requires realistic timeframes, strong local relationships and enough flexibility to respond when circumstances change.”

Rachel Mason Nunn, Chair of IDCC, said Australia’s development investment is an important part of Australia’s regional and global engagement. “Development cooperation is part of Australia’s contribution to a stable and prosperous Indo-Pacific,” Ms Mason Nunn said. “It works best when grounded in local priorities and delivered through practical partnerships that can be maintained over time.”

IDCC looks forward to continuing to work constructively with DFAT, partner governments, local organisations and the broader development sector to support a development program that delivers for Australia and the region.
